What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Engineer position at Actalent?
Description:
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for researching, planning and designing mechanical products and systems. They will have to direct and coordinate activities involved in fabrication, operation, application and installation. They will be working on the light industrial product line which is their more standard equipment with slight variations based on customer specifications. They will have to take an existing design and adapt them accordingly. Once they are fully trained, they will train them in all product lines.
There will be a project kick off meeting where they will discuss the customer requirements and timelines. The Mechanical Engineer will create an approval drawing for the customer, create a production drawing for the production team and will complete a final update to any drawings. From there, they will be responsible for creating bill of materials. They may be working with customers alongside applications/sales to help create quotes for components.
Projects can range anywhere from 120-300 hours of design time. The role will be 75-80% at their desk designing. When they are not working on a specific project, they will be helping to convert old 2D designs into 3D designs.
MUST HAVE:
-Proficient in CAD design - Solidworks or Inventor
-Experience designing custom equipment
-Experience creating BOM
-Strong communication skills (needs to communicate cross functionally between sales, operations and customers)
