Job Title: Medical Lab Technician

Job Description

Provide quality test results by operating general chemistry, performing manual methods, and utilizing other laboratory instruments. Analyze and organize work by matching computer orders with specimen labeling, sorting specimens, checking labeling, logging specimens, and arranging reports for delivery. Maintain clean and orderly work surfaces. Monitor test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure acceptable levels of analytic performance. Maintain quality results by running standards and controls, verifying equipment function through routine maintenance and troubleshooting, and calibrating equipment using approved testing procedures. Process and test up to 1000 samples per shift. Work with blood and urine samples and perform necessary testing. Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.

Work Environment

Lab includes R&D, specimen receiving, chemistry, and microbiology. Training hours are Monday to Friday, 6:30 am/7 am to 3:30 pm/4 pm. Night shift is from 10:30 pm to 7 am, Monday to Friday, with rotating Saturdays. The office building includes a call center, laboratory, and clerical center. Dress code requires long pants, a t-shirt, and closed-toed shoes. Lab coats must be worn when handling specimens.
