What are the responsibilities and job description for the Microbiology Lab Technician position at Actalent?
Currently hiring a Microbiology Lab Technician for a wide variety of commercial products. The majority of the job is microbiology lab testing. An ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology.
Shift: M-F 8am to 5pm (not much OT but could be at times)
Responsibilities
- Conduct microbiological testing on commercial products using specific procedures and test standards.
- Work efficiently with all offices and outside experts to develop proper procedures.
- Enumerate and count colonies using the plate count technique.
- Handle and catalog cell cultures, maintaining a frozen library of bacteria and fungi.
- Design and implement experiments following USP standards.
- Perform general lab maintenance.
- Calibrate and identify damaged equipment.
- Follow sample handling procedures, ensuring proper logging in and out of the system.
- Move equipment as needed through the facility and properly package samples for shipment.
- Communicate project status and test results to clients, sales personnel, and management throughout the testing process.
- Provide ongoing support to clients as needed.
- Perform other microbiology-related tasks as required.
