Job Description

The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. Position Responsibilities: Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, updating patient information, etc. Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture blood drawing and/or other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) as required. Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully understand all of the physicians' orders. Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as required by test order. Checks all test requisitions or computer labels against script to ensure 100% correctness. Packages specimens for transport. Stores specimen samples according to the required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately labels, and follows different procedures as outlined by specific protocols to maintain the integrity of the specimen during transport. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 13 Weekly.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Atlanta, Georgia.

Work Environment

Clinic - IOP, 1st Shift, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM / 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM
