What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Engineer position at Actalent?
Summary:
-Process design and analysis of an assigned scope of work in a project including specific complex deliverables such as conceptual process design, process simulations, heat and material balances, P&ID and PFD development.
-Work includes, among other things, conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, design calculations and equipment and material specification. Is able to effectively communicate technical solutions and concepts to other engineers and non-engineers.
-Mentors junior Process Engineers and depending on size and complexity of scope of work may be assigned as the Process Engineering Lead for a project.
-Maintains and promotes a focus on end product whether engineering, fabrication or construction.
-Ensures effective communications among other engineering disciplines.
-Ensures effective management of change.
-Assumes responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity and budget control.
Job Description:
-Provides technical guidance for the pertinent portions of the assigned projects. Provides necessary calculations and project overview of other Engineers and Designers.
-Develops and monitors project scopes and schedules for applicable discipline and team of Engineers and Designers. Identifies changes in scope / schedule and their impact, as they occur.
-Provides coordination of design efforts with other disciplines and client personnel.
-Monitors and ensures design work and documents are correct, consistent with applicable codes, logically presented and constructible.
-When responsible for work, stamps required project documents as a PE and/or ensures all licensing requirements are followed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-Current on new scientific engineering methods and possesses a broad technical knowledge of the process design engineering process
-Knowledgeable in design of complex chemical processes
-Ability to work in Revit, AutoCad, and Bluebeam. Proficient in the use of ChemCad preferred
-Strong organizational skills and effective verbal/written communication skills for execution of multiple projects. Experience in effective project execution and project procedures. Ability to supervise and lead the completion of projects (ability to effectively manage project discipline schedule and budget)
-Experience in the development of the design basis for Capital Project Cost Estimates
Qualifications:
-BS Degree in Chemical Engineering required. Degree must be ABET accredited
-12 years of experience, preferably in EPC, of detail process engineering experience in lead roles and/or specialization
-Professional Engineer registration preferred, with ability to obtain PE registration in other states via exam or comity
