What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Engineer position at Actalent?
Description:
Looking for a Civil Engineer or a Mechanical Engineer that will be involved in several projects which will vary in their level of involvement. The work is to support natural gas capital projects at stations which include distribution, transmission, compression and storage facilities. All work supporting capital projects. Examples could be gas transmission, piping, fuel gas meters, project upgrades, modifications, valve replacements, regulators, pressure vessels, etc.
(1) Identify/scope the civil engineering design and construction scope necessary to complete the project (work within an 30, 60, 90 day timelines throughout the project)
(2) Work with outside contract engineering services necessary to complete the scope. Engineering firms and construction firms (Leads for us if we are able to place someone in this role)
(3) Provide engineering review and technical leadership (kick off meetings, pre bid walk downs, preconstruction reviews, construction milestones, etc...)
(4) Assist the Project Manager in contracting construction services to complete the scope of work (This would create leads for if we are able to place someone in this role)
5) Complete closeout activities., documents, drawings, test records, etc...
Typical reasons for site visits include: pre-engineering kick off, pre-bid walk downs, pre-construction reviews, construction milestones, answering construction questions, construction quality inspections, requested regular site visits, and red-line walk downs
Technical Skills:
• Working knowledge in civil and structural design.
• Site design, storm water management, pre-engineered metal building design, foundation design, structural steel design, storage tank design, environmental permitting (wetlands, soil erosion, culverts, etc.). Design experience in one of the above topics is preferred.
• Experience coordinating and developing contract documents, specifically engineering drawings and technical specifications for both consulting and construction services • Working knowledge of Civil/Structural codes, including, but not limited to: IBC/MBC, AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI 318, AWS D1.1, and ASCE 7.
