We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Quality Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the highest standards of quality across our products and processes. If you have a strong experience in auditing and certifying MIL CARC paint processes, developing supplier special process certification and audit programs (MIL STDs and/or NADCAP), and working with metallic mechanical parts (sheet metal, castings, stampings, etc.) and associated special processes (painting, welding, brazing, chemical processes, etc.), we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate effective supplier root cause and corrective actions for defect escapes.
- Analyze supplier performance data and take preventative actions to address systemic issues and improve supplier performance.
- Support risk-based change management processes involving supplier work transitions.
- Perform and manage supplier on-site FAIR reviews and source inspections as required.
- Support supplier material review/release, requests for information, and deviation processes.
- Perform onsite assessments/audits at suppliers as needed (QMS/Process/Product/RCCA).
- Support supplier selection and certification processes as required.
- Develop and improve supplier quality management systems (internal procedures, supplier metrics, supplier audits/assessments/certifications).
- Interface with suppliers and internal teams to influence and/or lead changes necessary to execute strategy and achieve program goals.
- Act as the “voice of supplier” within the organization to ensure that all issues that could cause a risk to schedule and material conformance are effectively addressed in a timely manner.
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, assist the department Manager in daily functions, or represent the Supplier Quality Manager at internal reviews and presentations.
- Support special projects as assigned.
- Prepare executive-level summary reports/presentations of problem investigation and supplier corrective action status, supplier performance data/trends, and corresponding action plans.
- Develop and implement quality control plans and procedures.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve quality issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field and 7 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree and 5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience working in Aerospace & Defense or other highly regulated industries in a supplier quality and development role.
- Working knowledge of AS9100/ISO9000 or similar quality management systems.
- Experience with creating and reviewing First Article Inspection Reports in accordance with AS9102B.
- Ability to understand military specifications and read blueprints.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication, and writing skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%.
- Ability to obtain a Clearance.
- ASQ CQE or Six Sigma Black Belt training, certification, and/or working knowledge.
- ASQ CQA or AS9100 Lead Auditor Certification.
