What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Engineer position at Actalent?
Actalent is currently hiring for Sales/Applications Engineers in the Kansas City area. Qualified candidates must have excellent customer service skills and the ability to serve as a main point of contact for clients and vendors. Experience with project bidding, estimating, or project management is preferred. This is a great opportunity for a customer oriented person with well-rounded engineering skills and experience!
Description:
- Assist Regional Business Development Managers and Inside Sales Manager in preparing formal proposals.
- Manage, coordinate, and support all assigned budget and firm proposals. Will be working on multiple proposals at once for new and aftermarket projects.
- In conjunction with sales management and Business Development Managers, develop and implement proposal strategies.
- Direct responsibility for preparing formal proposals and support BDM’s and Representatives in proposal prep.
- Attend customer meetings and/or pre-bid job walks as required.
- Coordinate with engineering staff, vendors, construction staff, subcontractors, management, and other support staff in estimating bills of material, freight costs, setting margins and developing proposal specific and standard published pricing.
- Maintain accuracy of Quote Database and assist in Sales Forecasting / Budgeting.
- Perform a smooth transition from the proposal management to project management phases of a contract.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a technical degree is preferred.

- Experience in construction, capital project management and/or engineered products.
- Sense of urgency and highly responsive.
- Ability to work in highly interactive team.
