Description:
Actalent is hiring a Senior Piping Designer to lead various phases of planning, site evaluations, analytical designs, design documents for proposals, report preparation, specifications, and preparation of construction documentation and piping plans as part of a project team. This position will lead various projects with a diverse portfolio of project types and clients for a large EPC in Houston. This is a 12 month project based contract working in Navisworks, CADworx and Microstation.
-Lead a variety of assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques including drawing sequence and presentation, incorporating various system components, and refining rough sketches.
-Quality review PFDs and P&IDs from verbal or written description from the design engineer.
-Quality review basic formulas, principles and practices, and use acquired knowledge of fundamental concepts and practices pertaining to the piping discipline.
-Lead drawing, planning, development and production work including problem analysis, design layout and calculations on non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity.
-Evaluate designs or sketches and redlines or mark-ups on ongoing projects for quality assurance.
-Lead production of design drawings within scope, budget and schedule.
-Compute calculations for layouts, equipment, wiring diagrams, and schematics under the direction of the engineer.
-Incorporate schedules, budgets and project criteria into piping design and layouts for project financial goals.
-Responsible for the quality review of all revisions of project drawings, plot files and project-related information in a logical and well-structured manner.
-Participate in marketing and client development meetings.
-Responsible for the piping design QA/QC process.
-Review, coordination, and clash detection using 3D tools (NavisWorks).
-Ability to work and incorporate point clouds into the design process.
-Lead and manage creation of piping isometrics using 2D/3D software applications.
-Create material take-offs.
