Job Title: Specimen Accessioner

Job Description

The Accessioner is responsible for handling all specimens and lab samples in a safe and efficient manner, reviewing specimen packages for complete information, and routing/delivering specimens to the appropriate destination within the lab. This role is vital for maintaining the accuracy and efficiency of lab operations.

Responsibilities

• Handle all specimens and lab samples safely and efficiently, including blood, saliva, urine, stool, etc.
• Review specimen packages for complete information.
• Route and deliver specimens to the appropriate destination within the lab.
• Scan or manually enter specimen and patient information into the internal system, Touch.
• Sort samples into specific bins based on category and/or lab code.
• Maintain an inclusive environment through persistent self-reflection.
• Build a culture of care, engagement, and recognition with clear outcomes.

Essential Skills

• Data entry
• Laboratory inventory management experience is preferred
• Attention to detail
• High school diploma or GED
• Strong work ethic and motivation to meet performance metrics
• Excellent data entry and organizational skills
• Ability to take and initiate feedback well
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Positive attitude, hardworking, and takes initiative
• Proven reliability and positive attendance
