What are the responsibilities and job description for the SSHO position at Actalent?
Actalent is in search of a Site Safety and Health Officer who has progressive experience in federal contracting and is familiar with EM 385-1-1 requirements.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Be present full time at the job site
- Ensures compliance with project safety and health requirements as detailed in the APP, AHA, Health & Safety (H&S) Plan
- Authorized to stop work if any unsafe practice is observed
- Ensures subcontractor safe work practices
- Provides safety training to project team, including subcontractors
- Monitors hazardous working conditions and mitigates unsafe activities through safety management, training and coordination with supervisory personnel.
- Plans, implements and supervises project safety, accident and fire protection programs in compliance with corporate safety program standards.
- Identifies, documents and corrects unsafe site conditions in coordination with site operations management.
- Controls hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee and subcontractor activities through safety management and contacting supervisory personnel.
- Supervises and administers safety/first aid activities, including work assignments, personnel administration, staffing and training.
- Assists corporate program by developing employee and subcontractor safety orientation training program and implements upon completion.
- Conducts work area surveillance inspections, property damage assessments and personal injury investigations.
- Documents all accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions/activities.
- Reviews documentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures, and implement appropriate corrective action as required
- Strive to win client safety awards
- Support the Site Supervisor and the QC Manager as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in construction safety
- Construction Industry Safety experience on $1M-$100M size projects, preferably projects with NAVFAC, USACE, and/or Air Force.
- Must be familiar with EM 385-1-1; current certificate preferred.
- OSHA 30 Hour Construction training certification
- First Aid/CPR training (current).
- Five 24-hr formal safety training
- Strong leadership and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Computer skills including MS Office applications.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize workload and multi-task with ease
This is a 4 month W-2 Position with room to extend (This is based on our current client needs)
