The Pharmacist could be doing one of two jobs;
Prescription Review/Data quality reviews- checking prescriptions going in and out of the Pharmacy. Verifying all the data and all of the clinical, quality, and drug utilization review are correct. Making sure the appropriate medication, dose, strength, directions, quantity, safety, and patient information etc. are correct. Check incoming and outgoing prescriptions.
They could be also handling inbound/outbound calls from drs. office/provider offices with questions around prescription. They could also be handling outbound calls to the Pharmacies or members. They could be handling patient/family education of medication over the phone.

Summary: The Staff Pharmacist oversees all pharmacy technician work of medication orders and dispensing by reviewing and interpreting physician orders to ensure the right drug gets to the right patient in the right dose; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities; communicates with prescribers as needed to confirm dosing and administration to ensure the correct and safe dispensing for patients; controls medications by monitoring drug therapies; responsible for identifying and reporting adverse events and product complaints in accordance with pharmacy regulations and client requirements; counsel patients on medication, how and when to take medication as well as potential adverse events and strategies to minimize events; conduct additional outreach, follow up and counseling to patients as required by regulatory agencies such as a REMS; stay abreast of pharmacy laws and changes; complete continuing education courses to maintain and renew license(s); ensures compliance with all applicable program guidelines; performs related duties as required. Essential Job Duties: Reviews and approves medication orders by interpreting physician orders. Identifies orders that fall outside the FDA-approved labelling and/or program guidelines. Reviews and approves orders above the FDA-approved dose maximum when supported by appropriate clinical documentation. Answers questions and provides information to patients on side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals, as needed. Maintains pharmacological knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Maintains confidentiality of information Ensures the program is delivering the correct, quality products to customers in a timely and professional manner. Collaborates effectively with call center and other program staff Interacts with clients as appropriate related to operational process reviews. Provides subject matter expertise as appropriate to program staff and clients. Ensures established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs are maintained. Reports prescription errors immediately and adheres to company policy regarding medication incidents Supervises and guides staff. Develops staff by providing detailed performance reviews, development of goals and objectives, ongoing coaching, and mentoring.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum Required: 1 - 2 years of professional experience as a Pharmacist in a retail or specialty pharmacy setting.
Experience/knowledge/skill in: Analyzing Information, Administering Medication, Demonstrated sound judgment and decision making, Strong verbal and written communication skills, Knowledge in FDA Health Regulations, Pharmacology, Managing Processes, Legal Compliance, Focus on quality, Attention to detail.
Must have a B.S. Pharm degree. Pharm.D. degree is preferred. Must possess a current and valid Pharmacist state license, in good standing. Must be proficient with basic computer programs and able to handle multiple requests at one time, as well as ensure that medication orders are reviewed and fulfilled in a timely manner.
