What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substation Engineer position at Actalent?
Description:
Seeking an engineering lead who possess at least 5 years of experience in substation physical layout design, collaborating with and mentoring others, and working with a client. This person will have an engineering degree and a Professional Engineering License.
Ideal candidate possesses the ability to manage multiple projects and mentor/train designers and drafters in efficient production of project deliverables. In addition candidate will be responsible for key interfacing with client leads and managers.
This position involves the preparation of design drawings such as: general arrangements, equipment plans, elevations, sections, control house layouts, grounding plan, conduit and cable plan, bills of material, cable schedules for medium and high voltage substations using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software tools. Perform calculations to support design as required, such as: arc flash, coordination, fault current, bus span, ampacity, etc. The position requires working with others in a collaborative team environment as well as a small amount of travel. It also may include grounding analysis utilizing CDEGS and/or WinIGS software packages.
