Job Description
The Veterinarian is responsible for daily veterinary care and preventive as well as ongoing clinical veterinary care for all laboratory animals. The role includes overseeing the anesthesia and surgical programs of the Center, and maintaining all practices in accordance with AAALAC, USDA, OLAW and NY State Department of Health standards. The Veterinarian will provide veterinary care to all laboratory animal species, participate in training and educational activities, engage in multidisciplinary research activities with a focus on veterinary cardiovascular medicine, provide guidance to technical veterinary staff and assure compliance with study protocols.

Work Site
This is a fully on-site position in Orangeburg, New York.
Work Environment
The work environment is a high volume laboratory with approximately 25 people including husbandry techs, vet techs, an animal care manager, and other vets. The facility houses 40 to 80 animals at any given time, with studies lasting anywhere from 3 days to 5 years. The building is a clean, state-of-the-art facility with operating rooms, cath rooms, a CT scan room, a vet station, a prep room, and an ICU. The environment is team-oriented and operates under GLP, meaning there are additional regulatory requirements. The work involves primarily working with pigs and sheep, with occasional work with cats and dogs. The work schedule is Monday-Friday with 8 to 10 hour shifts, and 'on call' weekends and holidays.
