Benthic is looking to add a qualified Assistant Project Manager to the team in Houston. The Assistant Project Manager will provide technical expertise while assisting the Project Manager – Engineering in the delivery of internal projects, by supporting the full project cycle with strict adherence to its success indicators – safety, quality, schedule, budget, planning and cost control. Assigned responsibilities may include managing project personnel, subcontractors, and stakeholder relationships. The role also includes collaborating with engineering, asset management, supply chain, and other parties to the project. The Assistant Project Manager will contribute in continually monitoring and improving procedures to ensure quality results are achieved.
Duties
Assist to manage complete lifecycle of projects, from concept phase, through AFE approval, planning, execution, monitoring, completion and closeout phases, as well as post-completion evaluation and review
Adhere to safety procedures and policies in accordance with the Management System, including:
oActive participation in workshop safety & toolbox meetings
oReport all hazards and unsafe acts
oEnsure third party compliance
oActively promote a positive, proactive safety culture throughout the company
Adhere to quality procedures and policies in accordance with the Management System, including
oEnsuring documentation is approved by correct persons
oCompliance with document control procedures
oRaise corrective actions for all non-conformances
oComply with work instructions
oIdentify areas requiring improvement and/or audit
Assist in project execution and be responsible for identification, documentation, and action on scope variations as they arise
Assist the assigned Project Manager in the assignment of personnel skillsets for projects
Source project resources both internally and externally for project execution
Identify and mitigate potential technical, commercial, QHSE risks for assigned projects
Administer and assist with specific project tasks
Utilize the appropriate procedures, work instructions, and forms within the BMS to properly facilitate compliance with Company standards
Review specifications and project documentation, raising to Project Manager if any concerns
Provide input to the preparation of commercial and technical documents as required
Work with other disciplines within the Company to ensure high quality technical content for commercial and project support
Keep abreast of relevant technical developments, working practices and Company procedures
Provide technical support to offshore teams as and when required
Assist Project Manager to QC and issue of final reports in line with agreed timescales
Completion of project risk assessments for the Project Managers’ approval
Participate in quality control of final deliverables
Liaise with internal logistics personnel to coordinate offshore / field staff and equipment mobilization
Assist PM with project financial reporting and project progress reports
Assist PM with Project Procurement including defining Bill Of Materials, generating supply chain requisitions, tracking procurement progress and delivery
Required
Engineering degree or equivalent experience, required
Proficiency with Microsoft Office is essential, especially MS Excel and MS Word
Minimum 2-3 yrs Offshore industry experience, preferred
Training or course work in Project Management Skills/Methods, preferred
Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
Developed interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills
Developed technical writing skills to draft, review, and organize various technical documents including reports, contract documents, Project Scopes, Project plans, procedures, etc.
Ability to review and understand engineering drawings and technical specifications
Ability to build and understand a project schedule Gantt chart and schedule critical path
Ability to perform tasks and achieve results with a high degree of accuracy and precision
Ability to competently and professionally present project materials in stakeholder meetings, as well as identify and mitigate concerns
Ability to work both independently and within teams
Ability to resolve problems quickly in a high pressured and time sensitive environment
Must hold a valid passport free from status or restrictive conditions that preclude travel to and work in countries where the Company routinely operates
Ability to travel internationally as required for project support
