ActUp Theater is a small business in Hartford, CT. Our goal is to ActUp Theater, Inc is a performing arts community theater company that explores social-justice issues pulled from today’s culture and current events. Through traditional and original works, we infuse social justice themes that give voice to challenges in our community with a relevant perspective. .

Act Up Theater is seeking a Program Coordinator for our Summer Academy. The Program Coordinator role will be responsible for the planning, outreach, and day-to-day management of the program. Duties include leading program staff and delegating tasks to achieve the goals of the program and ensure the safety of the program participants. Additional duties include monitoring program budgets, determining how to prioritize funds, and performing outreach duties to engage with the local community! Responsibilities and skill set include but are not limited to:

Duties & Responsibilities.

  • Verify Sign In/Sign Out: Reliable recordings using our digital platform, ProCare
  • Collect Code of Conduct and Hold Harmless from all participants
  • Managing Interns
  • Ensure timesheets filled out
  • Monitor completion of tasks
  • Oversee bio collection
  • Assisting Teaching Artists
  • Make sure all needs are met for operation of the class
  • Coordinate with the Videographer and Photographer on schedule and deliverables
  • Set-Up/ Takedown
  • Basic photography of the process
  • Social Media content creation
  • Organize the deliverables of each reel and headshot
  • Compiling Digital Portfolio
  • Operating Google Drive
  • Updating student digital portfolios
  • Drafting Growth statements/ Bios
  • All information collected in a reasonable amount of time
  • Ensuring the safety of ALL participants
  • Establishing a fun and interactive learning environment
  • Greeting students in the morning

  • Operating a computer

Compensation is competitive with arts education organizations.

Commitment

This Agreement shall commence on July 8th and end on August 1st 2024 with the potential for a mutually agreed extension or promotion unless sooner terminated. This Agreement is at will and can be terminated by either party with written notice two weeks in advance; ActUp Theater may elect to tell the instructor not to work during those two weeks, provided that ActUp Theater pays the instructor the two weeks' notice pay. This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement and understanding between the parties hereto and concerning the subject matter hereof, and supersedes any previous agreements, written or oral, between the parties hereto and concerning the subject matter.

Background Check

ActUp Theater shall screen and qualify paid staff and agency volunteers and prohibit employment or volunteer opportunities to individuals who have been arrested or convicted of crimes. ActUp Theater shall keep results of said background checks confidential on file at its offices and make said results available upon written request.

Non-Discrimination

Each party agrees that, in the performance of this Agreement, services shall be provided without discrimination toward students, employees, or other persons regardless of their race, color, sex, age, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, marital status, disability or any other manner prohibited by law.

Severability

The parties understand and agree that if any part, term or provision of this Agreement is held by any court to be invalid, illegal or in conflict with any applicable law, the validity of the remaining portions of this Agreement shall not be affected, and the rights and obligations of the parties shall be construed and enforced as if this agreement did not contain the particular part, term or provision held to be invalid, illegal or in conflict with any applicable law.

Indemnification

ActUp Theater and agree to indemnify, defend and hold the other harmless and all of their members, managers, officers, directors, employees, agents and assigns harmless against any and all claims, demands, damages, liabilities and costs (including reasonable attorney’s fees, but excluding consequential damages) which arise in connection with any neglect of omission by either party, its agents or employees pertaining to its activities under this agreement.

Ownership Rights

A. It is understood and agreed that content is being developed as the sole and exclusive use of ActUp Theater, Inc. that shall be deemed to be the sole and exclusive owner of all right, title, and interest therein, including all copyright and proprietary rights relating thereto.

B. ActUp Theater, Inc. has the right to use or not use Artwork and to use, reproduce, re-use, alter, modify, edit, or change Artwork as it sees fit and for any purpose.

Confidentiality

The employee recognizes during the course of its work with Company (ActUp Theater, Inc.), they may have occasion to conceive, create, develop, review, or receive information which is considered by Company (ActUp Theater, Inc.) to be confidential or proprietary, including information relating to inventions, patent, trademark and copyright applications, improvements, know-how, specifications, drawings, cost data, process flow diagrams, customer and supplier lists, bills, ideas, and/or any other written material referring to same

(Confidential Information).

Both during the term of the agreement and thereafter:
A. Employee agrees to maintain in confidence such Confidential Information unless or until: (1) it shall have been made public by an act or omission of a party other than itself; or (2) Employee receives such Confidential Information from an unrelated third party on a nonconfidential basis, whichever shall first occur.
B. Artist further agrees to use all reasonable precautions to ensure that all such Confidential Information is properly protected and kept from unauthorized persons or disclosure.
C. If requested by Company, Employee agrees to promptly return to Company all materials, writings, equipment, models, mechanisms, and the like obtained from or through Company including, but not limited to, all Confidential Information, all of which employee recognizes is the sole and exclusive property of Company.
D. Employee agrees that it will not, without first obtaining the prior written permission of Company: (1) directly or indirectly utilize such Confidential Information in its own business; (2) manufacture and/or sell any product that is based in whole or in part on such Confidential Information; or (3) disclose such Confidential Information to any third party.
