Bay Area based engineering consulting firm seeks electrical engineer or equivalent for major engineering firm in San Jose, CA. Candidates Must live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Job located in San Jose, California.Must have experience in construction and installation of power substations, switchgears, grounding grids, bus bars, panel boards, and SCADA. Must be able to read electrical line drawings.Preference is for C-10 or ICC E2 electrical license, must be a university or technology school graduate.You will be responsible for monitoring general contractor's performance, verification, safety and quality oversight, technical inspection and testing knowledge.DUTIESProgress reporting - Calculate, track and record quantities of works performed by the Construction Contractors for the purposes of analyzing and evaluating reported versus actual rates of production.Facilitates field measurements and quantity take offs as the input into the monthly payment process.Oversees the Contractor’s activities to assure compliance with contract requirements, documents, procedures and progress. Identifies issues or problems in the field and proactively ensures timely resolution, where possible.Reviews contractor’s documentation including risk assessments, method statements, work plans, site logistics, traffic plans etc. and monitors Contractor’s adherence to said plans.Attends witness points on behalf of client as specified on the Inspection & Test Plans to verify compliance with project standards.Assist the Lead Field Engineer in the closeout effort on behalf of the Construction Management team.Participates in Punchlist walks downs, reviews QC and QA evidence to ensure all requirements have been met. Reviews Contactor’s red-line drawings for completeness and accuracy.Ensures that safety and creation as well as maintenance of a safe workplace and environment is the primary consideration and priority in the delivery of all work.Monitors Contractors’ conformance to the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP)Monitors Contractors compliance with geotechnical and archaeological monitoring and reporting requirements.Monitors implementation of safety rules, policies, and procedures applicable to CM staff.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLSTechnical knowledge and experience of relevant construction methods and systems including:Support of Excavation (SOE)Instrumentation MonitoringGround improvement/ground replacement worksMass ExcavationDe-watering/de-pressurizationTBM delivery, assembly, launch and operationHas knowledge of construction activities as they relate to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contractadministration.Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the relevant Environmental, Health and Safetyregulations as they relate to areas of responsibility.Knowledge of project-specific environmental compliance requirements.Computer literate in MS suite of office tools (i.e. Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and other key construction automationtools (e.g. Aconex, Unifier, Bluebeam).Familiarity with current industry quality standards.Demonstrated technical writing, data management, verbal communication, presentation, and teaching skills.Ability to proactively act upon and solve construction and contract issues.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Strong time management skills and excellent attention to detail.Ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment.Able to obtain a valid California Class C driver’s license within 60 days of starting on the projectCompany DescriptionAcumen is a professional engineering consulting firm that develops sustainable transportation solutions creating jobs and improving communities around the world.
