The Ada County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Quartermaster who controls, accounts for, distributes, and maintains inventory of equipment and uniforms. Assists agency armorer with various weapon-related duties.
Distinguishing Features of the Class
Performs routine, moderately complex work under general supervision and according to pre-defined guidelines.

- Maintains employee uniform and equipment files;
- Organizes, catalogs, and disseminates equipment assigned to bureaus (tasers, radios, etc.)
- Sizes uniform-wearing personnel to ensure proper fitting of shirts, pants, jackets, hats, and other apparel;
- Maintains supply of equipment and uniform items for issue;
- Issues equipment and uniform items to employees;
- Receives returned equipment and uniforms from employees;
- Communicates with others in the agency and vendors to exchange technical information.
- Makes recommendations regarding internal purchasing policies and procedures, purchasing and contracting documents, and requisitions to ensure conformance with those policies and procedures; and
- Performs related functions as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Previous inventory experience preferred;
- Knowledge of maintaining law enforcement equipment and uniforms preferred;
- Knowledge of proper handling of weapons;
- Knowledge of basic record keeping practices;
- Knowledge of data processing methods, information storage, and retrieval techniques;
- Knowledge of computers and other office equipment;
- Skill in the use of a computer to process and track contracts and to produce reports;
- Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions and make recommendations;
- Ability to develop and format reports from general directions;
- Ability to organize assignments and projects;
- Ability to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations and organizational guidelines and appropriations;
- Ability to maximize cost savings;
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Must keep abreast of industry trends for products and services that are regularly purchased;
- Must keep abreast of professional trends in purchasing policies, procedures and techniques;
- Must appear before an oral board and successfully complete a polygraph and background check;
- This position has been designated safety sensitive and therefore the incumbent is subject to random drug testing.
- Work is performed primarily in an office environment and the employee in this class is subject to inside environmental conditions;
- May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.;
- Requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to function in a general office environment to accomplish tasks.
