Basic Function: Implements and plans for direct casework services to clients within agency policy and procedure, under the direct supervision of the Program Supervisor or designee.

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain complete, accurate, and current service reports on children and families served including timely written case notes, six-month summaries and permanency reports as required and/or requested by DCFS
  • Ensure that a healthy, safe and secure home environment and a consistency of care is provided to the children, including but not limited to, ensuring that the children receive proper medical, dental and emotional care as required.
  • Advise and consult with the Client, Foster Parent and Child Welfare Supervisor to ensure adequate understanding of the case dynamics and the needs of the Client.
  • Coordinate effectively with DCFS and other community agencies for the maximum utilization of available resources to address the service goals of the cases assigned.
  • Work in conjunction with other team members to develop a working knowledge of community resources which may be used in serving clients and maintain a close working relationship with these resources.
  • Prepare for and attend required case meetings, ACR’s, court hearings, and staffings.
  • Submit reports as required by Supervisor.
  • Work with Foster and Biological Families and provide support when needed.

· Carries a selected caseload, which meets the basic environmental and psychosocial needs of the client.

· Provides direct treatment and case management services to clients.

· Collects and correlates statistical data on the client.

· Provides community out-reach, in-home services, advocacy and linkage for the client.

· Interprets the agency’s policies and services to potential clients.

· Establishes and implements reunification service plans when a minor is placed outside of the home setting.

· Reports suspicions of alleged child abuse and/or neglect.

· Requires frequent traveling.

· * May place children in foster care and/or other substitute care arrangements, and monitor the child’s progress.

· * Maintains current knowledge of the profession; attends required trainings, seminars and workshops.

Specifications:

· The position requires a minimum Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, with a major in one of the Behavioral Sciences i.e., Social Work, School Guidance Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, School Psychology, Criminal Justice, etc. A Master’s degree in the above major fields of study is also acceptable.

· Must pass Child Care Act (CCA), Child Endangerment Risk Assessment Protocol (CERAP), Foster Family Homes – Rule 402 (FFH) and Child Welfare for Employees Licensure (CWEL) exams. (Training provided)

· This position requires the use of a personal auto, a valid driver’s license, a motor vehicle report acceptable to the agency’s insurance broker and verification of insurance coverage.

· Demonstrates the experiences, beliefs, attitude and awareness that indicates cultural sensitivity to the client population served.

· Able to partner with clients individually, in family, to help them mobilize resources and their inner capacity to address problems they face.

· Able to coordinate effectively with other team members, other Agency resources and outside services in addressing client needs.

· Able to work in a team environment.

· Strong communication and organizational skills.

· Able to exercise discretion and independent judgment.

· Able to handle sensitive and confidential materials.

· Reliable, punctual, and able to manage multiple tasks.

· Able to work flexible hours.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $44,000.00 per year
