Job Summary:
The Receiving Specialist is responsible for efficiently managing inbound inventory, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely processing of materials and supplies required for production. This role requires strong attention to detail, familiarity with warehouse operations, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and inspect all incoming shipments for accuracy, condition, and documentation compliance.
- Accurately log deliveries in ERP system, reconcile packing slips with purchase orders, and resolve any discrepancies.
- Collaborate with Quality and Purchasing to address non-conforming materials and document damages or shortages.
- Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to unload deliveries and transport items to designated storage locations.
- Maintain organized and safe receiving and warehouse areas, adhering to housekeeping standards.
- Ensure proper labeling and identification of materials, updating bin locations and inventory status.
- Manage returns and defective materials in coordination with the Quality team.
- Communicate with internal teams regarding incoming materials and supply needs.
- Assist in periodic cycle counts and inventory audits.
- Support cross-functional logistics operations as needed.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a receiving or warehouse logistics role.
- Proven ability to work independently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains or SAP ERP systems a plus.
- Familiarity with FedEx/UPS shipping platforms.
- Experience with LTL (Less-than-Truckload) shipping and coordination of both domestic and international shipments, particularly with Canada and Mexico, is a plus.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with assistance provided when necessary.
- Forklift certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards and warehouse best practices.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Additional logistics or warehouse training/certifications are a plus.
