What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Teacher position at Addlestone Hebrew Academy?
Responsibilities:
- Supervise children in various classrooms, ages 12 months through 4 years old.
- Act as guide, mentor, and teacher while assisting in various classrooms.
- Supervision of students ages 12 months-4 years will include assisting teachers with the following: napping, activity time, diapering, potty training, lunch/recess, carpool, etc.
- Use time management skills and follow the set schedule determined for your individual age group.
- Ensure that the DSS regulations are being met physically and reinforced in the Early Childhood classrooms
- Maintain student: teacher ratio requirements determined for your specific age group.
- Use school radio for daily communication.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment for students, abiding by all school rules and policies.
- Assist all students with empathy and patience.
- Enthusiastically participate in and implement activities as required.
- Embody a positive, authentic attitude and a strong desire to work with and serve as a role model for children.
- Interface with the leadership team: Early Childhood Director, Operations Director, and Head of School as needed.
- Use and maintain an accurate daily tracking role for attendance throughout the entirety of the school day.
- Create a positive and engaging learning environment for students.
- Manage classroom behavior and maintain a safe and respectful learning environment
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support student success
- Complete training requirements set forth by DSS and school.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma (required)
- Associate's and Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (preferred, not required)
- Experience working with students in an educational setting (tutoring, daycare, or sports coaching experience is a plus)
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively manage classroom behavior and implement behavior management strategies
- Passion for working with children and helping them reach their full potential
- Understanding of childhood development stages and the ability to adapt teaching methods accordingly
