ECE Infant and Toddler Instructional Aide

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As part of the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Team, the ECE Instructional Aide is responsible for developing strong nurturing relationships with children, assisting the teachers in implementing culturally appropriate learning experiences that advance the development of preschool children, and maintaining child/teacher ratio by covering breaks. The ECE Instructional Aide will work in partnership with teachers, parents, and the ECE Manager to implement the vision and daily operations of the ECE program and to ensure each child's safety, health, and development in accordance with each child's needs and abilities. They will comply with Adelante Mujeres and Hillsboro School District policies and procedures, as well as Oregon Office of Childcare regulations in childcare centers. The ideal candidate will be inspired by and fully committed to Adelante Mujeres' vision and mission and have a history of working with young children.

• Establishes a well-managed learning environment that is child-oriented, interesting, and attractive to children.
• Supports lead teacher in executing classroom curriculum, including set up of materials and activities.
• Maintains confidential information about children, families, and program operations
• Applies strong safety practices in all duties
• Maintains positive professional relationships and resolves interpersonal disagreements cooperatively.
• Attends educational workshops, attends designated training workshops or seminars, participates in training during pre-service or in-service.
• Contributes to the general maintenance of classrooms, such as sweeping floors, disinfecting toys, tables, shelves, etc., and replenishing supplies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A passionate commitment to the mission of the organization, environmental sustainability, employee well-being, and support for immigrant and BIPOC communities
• Bilingual in English/Spanish required, written and verbal
• 2 years of experience working with children 0- 3 years of age
• Prior experience working with low-income Latino families
• Training and/or education in working with children with special needs
• Demonstrated ability to implement and enhance curricula
• Commitment to the mission of the organization
• Proof of criminal background registry enrollment required

• Must have reliable transportation to and from office premises and activity locations.
• Ability to travel out of town to attend workshops or trainings
• Crawl or lie on floor or grass as appropriate for child-centered activities
• Move rapidly from extreme positions, i.e., sudden standing from floor
• Lift/move children, boxes, and other items as needed (twist, bend, reach, carry weight, think strategically about how to properly move heavy items)

SALARY & BENEFITS:

• Salary range: $21.50-$22.75 per hour, depending on qualifications
• Classification: Part-time, working 30 hours per week (6-hour shifts, year-round). Non-exempt, hourly position.
