JOB SUMMARY:

The Clinical Educator will provide clinical tutoring to students and serve as a member of the assessment team. Additional responsibilities include serving on internal committees, collaborating with staff to develop student workshops and course specific study strategies. Direct services to students are provided during the AU academic calendar, fall, spring and summer sessions. Indirect services, like planning, reporting and training are scheduled immediately prior to and after the general semesters. This position requires occasional attendance at special events, such as open houses and accepted student days, which are generally scheduled during weekend hours.

 SALARY INFORMATION:

In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $47,800 - $52,800. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

1. Provide tutorials to students with focus on skills and learning strategies specific to the student’s learning disability or attention deficit disorder.

2. Assess each assigned student’s learning profile.

3. Create and assist with maintenance of an organizational plan for each student, each semester.

4. Evaluate students’ progress.

5. Consult with social workers and LRP administrators on issues related to students.

6. Prepare diagnostic/prescriptive reports.

7. Prepare materials and lessons.

8. Maintain anecdotal and attendance records.

9. Oversee course selection and registration, incorporating learning profile.

10. Provide direction to LRP student tutors as it relates to caseload.

11. Collaborate with the student's major advisor as necessary.

12. Assist students with coordination of Student Access Office provision of accommodations.

13. Consult with faculty, administration and academic departments as it supports student progress.

14. Attend or request meetings with parents and team as necessary.

15. Provide information for prospective students and parents.

16. Assess applications and interview new student applicants.

17. Attend recruiting events and retreats.

18. Assist with multiple aspects of summer programming.

19. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Excellent clinical educational skills.

2. Professional knowledge of learning disabilities and AD/HD.

3. Ability to relate to and engage young adults and their families.

4. Excellent interpersonal skills.

5. Good computer skills for using Administrative System, Microsoft Word, Excel and Google Docs, Google Calendar and Zoom.

6. Knowledge of supportive assistive technology for learning disabilities and ADHD.

7. Strong ability to be organized and pay attention to detail.

8. Strong ability to prioritize workload according to urgency, volume, etc.

9. Strong ability to work in a multiply disciplinary program, collaboratively with professional staff. 

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

1. A Master of Science in Special Education is preferred.

2. One to three years of job-related experience is required.

3. Experience working with neurodivergent students.
