JOB SUMMARY
This is an hourly position that works up to 20 hours a week. The days / hours will be Monday - Thursday, 9am to 2pm in the office.
The hourly Senior Payroll Administrator will spend more than 50% of time personally performing payroll processing and related activities such as Staff Payroll and Garnishments.
SALARY INFORMATION :
In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is $30 / hr. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education / training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.
REPORTS TO : AVP Accounting Operations and Reporting
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES :
- Coordinate payroll processing and workflow.
- Set up New Hires, process changes, terminations, direct deposit, taxable fringe benefits, deductions for Graduate Assistants, and International Students and assist with all payroll duties.
- Monitoring International students Treaty limits and processing necessary paperwork to the IRS.
- Help Process International Students though the FNIS and Tax Nov software.
- Assists in processing nonresident Alien Scholarship taxable amount and send to the IRS - once a semester.
- Assist and help prepare Quarterly 941 reconciliation.
- Checking and auditing timekeeping records for compliance with established standards.
- Perform tasks to establish, reconcile and maintain employee payroll records.
- Assist with Download data from Administrative Systems.
- Oversee and coordinate all aspects of Automated Time and Attendance System.
- Calculate amounts of Short-Term Disability, Paid Family Leave, Overtime and Special Payments.
- Process payroll adjustments.
- Run various ADP reports on the computer.
- Troubleshoot Data Bridge issues.
- Process Stop Payment on checks.
- Process Manual Checks.
- Review and reconcile ADP output once payroll is processed.
- Prepare various reports from Excel as well as ADP Reporting for Payroll and other departments.
- Handle all aspects of wage garnishments including making Child Support payments online.
- Handle Employee inquiries as it relates to calculating short term disability and family leave.
- Process wire transfer request for credit union deductions.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) :
- Knowledge of payroll system (ADP Vantage).
- Knowledge of Automated Time & Attendance System (ADP eTime).
- Knowledge of Payroll Garnishments.
- Proficiency in Excel and Word.
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Detail oriented.
- Good verbal and written communications skills.
EDUCATIONAL / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT :
- Bachelor degree in Business required.
- Three to five years of payroll experience with 2,000 or more employees is required.
- CPP designation preferred.
