The Quality and Regulatory Specialist is responsible for ensuring that animal feed ingredients comply with internal quality standards and external regulatory requirements. This role supports both domestic and international compliance, assists in product registrations, manages documentation, and works closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, manufacturing, sales, technical, and supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with relevant federal and international feed and food regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA, AAFCO, FSMA, CFIA, EU Feed Law).
- Support ingredient registration and approval processes domestically and internationally.
- Prepare and maintain regulatory dossiers and submissions for animal feed ingredients.
- Monitor changes in global feed regulations and communicate impacts to internal stakeholders.
- Quality Assurance:
- Review and maintain product labels, specifications, COAs, SDSs, and technical data sheets.
- Assist in internal and supplier audits to ensure adherence.
- Support implementation and maintenance of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 22000, FAMI-QS, HACCP).
- Documentation & Recordkeeping:
- Maintain accurate and organized regulatory files and product documentation.
- Support traceability and documentation efforts for product recalls, certifications, and inspections.
- Customer & Stakeholder Support:
- Respond to customer inquiries related to product specifications, certifications, and compliance.
- Provide technical support for customer QA and regulatory questions.
- Training & Reporting:
- Assist in training employees on quality and regulatory standards.
- Prepare and present internal reports and metrics related to quality and compliance performance.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of experience in regulatory affairs, quality assurance, or a related function in the feed, food, or agriculture industry.
- Knowledge of animal feed regulations (AAFCO, USDA, CFIA, FDA, FSMA, EU Feed Law, etc.).
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on documentation and compliance.
- Proficient in MS Office and experience with quality or regulatory management systems is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with domestic and international regulatory submissions or product registrations.
- HACCP or PCQI certification
- Working knowledge of ERP systems, SAP, or regulatory databases.
