ADM Community School District is seeking a dynamic and energetic High School Head Baseball Coach to lead our baseball program. As the head coach, you will play a crucial role in shaping the lives of our student-athletes, both on and off the field. This position is an exciting opportunity for an experienced coach who can inspire, motivate, and guide our young athletes to achieve success.
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Iowa coaching license.
• Previous coaching experience, preferably as a head coach or assistant coach at the high school or college level.
• Extensive knowledge of baseball techniques, strategies, and rules.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate student-athletes and assistant coaches.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to the academic success and personal development of student-athletes.
• Uphold high ethical standards and promote sportsmanship.
• Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and the community.

 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Strategy

• Develop the overall baseball program in grades 7–12.
• Establish a fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught to student-athletes in grades 7–12.
• Cooperate with coaches of other sports in the school and support others in an ethical manner, encouraging students to participate in multiple activities.
• Game Planning: Collaborate with coaching staff to develop game strategies, analyze opponents, and prepare for competition.
• Scouting and Recruitment: Identify and recruit talented athletes to join the program. Develop relationships with feeder programs to cultivate a strong pipeline of future athletes.
   

Player & Coach Development

• Foster a positive team culture, emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, and discipline.
• Serve as a role model and mentor to players in baseball skills, life skills, character development, and sportsmanship.
• Encourage players to excel academically and maintain good conduct.
• Implement a player assessment and evaluation process to track athlete progress, provide feedback, and support player growth.
• Collaborate with youth and middle school coaches to ensure athletes are learning fundamental skills and techniques to prepare them for success at the high school level.
• Supervise all practices, games, and locker rooms prior to and after practices and trips.
• Organize and attend coaching clinics, workshops, and ongoing training opportunities for all staff members to enhance their coaching skills and knowledge.
• Work with ADM Strength and Conditioning staff and ensure the baseball program is active in strength and conditioning.
   

Operations

• Lead all aspects of the baseball program, including planning and conducting practices, developing game strategies, and providing skill instruction to improve player performance.
• Prioritize the safety and well-being of all players by using proper training techniques and adherence to safety protocols. Follow established procedures in the event of an injury.
• Follow Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA), Department of Education, and ADM District Board policies, regulations, and procedures.
• Keep and submit statistics as requested and required by the IHSAA.
• Provide end-of-season summaries, statistics, and reports to the AD.
• Manage game day preparations, including game plans, player rotations, and decision-making during games. Aim for success on the field.
• Communicate and ensure consistent coaching philosophies and strategies throughout the program.
• Assist the AD in the recruitment, hiring, and evaluation of coaching staff at all levels.
• Assist the buildings and grounds department in maintaining, preparing, and overseeing the ADM baseball field.
• Ensure each athlete completes required eligibility paperwork.
• Understand, support, explain, and implement the Good Conduct Policy, Academic Eligibility Policy, and Daily Attendance Policy.
• Oversee team logistics, including equipment management, scheduling, completing transportation requests, and reserving facilities.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Principal, Athletic Director, or other appropriate administrator.

 
Community Engagement

• Promote the baseball program within the school and the local community, encouraging support and involvement and maintaining positive public relations.
• Maintain open communication with parents and the community.
• Conduct meetings for parents and students to discuss practice and game schedules, team rules and requirements, and provide pertinent information to stakeholders.
