Home Study Writer

COMPENSATION: Home study writers are paid $600 per completed home study & an hourly wage for training.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A doctorate or master’s degree in social work from a college or university accredited by the Council on Social Work Education or a field related to social work such as sociology, psychology, special education, or counseling, with a student placement in casework services to children and families or one year of experience in providing casework services to children and families; OR

• A baccalaureate degree in social work or a field related to social work including, but not limited to, sociology, psychology, special education, or counseling and one year of experience in providing casework services to children and families; OR

• A baccalaureate degree in any field plus two years’ experience in providing casework services to children and families.

• Excellent verbal and writing skills.

• Conflict management skills to discern the needs of people and apply available resources effectively to those needs.

• Organizational skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains confidentiality of all agency related information

• Monitors and maintains compliance with all applicable licensing and regulatory standards

• Attends mandatory staff meetings

• Attends professional conferences and seminars

• Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of Social Services

• Ongoing training related to the job position

• Interview prospective foster parents, write, and complete Home Studies for potential Adore foster families, as assigned and as required by the VA standards.

• Complete Home study narrative outline

• Conduct home study interviews as required by VA standards for potential foster and adoptive parents

• Monitor and maintain checklist and intake of documentation from potential families

• Upload documentation into the MIS

• Review file for completeness

• Write homestudy narrative

• Provided training as needed to potential foster families
