Position Overview
Advance Gov Partners is seeking a results-driven Business Development Specialist to support growth in the federal, state, and local government contracting space. This role is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building strategic relationships, supporting capture efforts, and assisting with proposal development to expand the firm’s government portfolio.
The ideal candidate understands the government procurement lifecycle and thrives in a fast-paced, relationship-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Capture
- Identify, track, and qualify federal, state, and local government contracting opportunities
- Research agencies, upcoming solicitations, and procurement forecasts
- Support capture planning, including opportunity assessment, win strategies, and teaming
- Develop and maintain pipeline reports and CRM data
Client & Partner Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with government clients, prime contractors, and teaming partners
- Attend industry days, networking events, and procurement briefings
- Coordinate introductions, capability briefings, and follow-up communications
- Support strategic partnerships and subcontracting opportunities
Proposal Support
- Assist with proposal development activities, including:
- RFI/RFP analysis
- Compliance matrices
- Past performance and capability statements
- Proposal coordination and submission support
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment with win strategies
Market Intelligence & Strategy
- Conduct competitive analysis and market research
- Monitor industry trends, agency priorities, and contract vehicles
- Support development of go-to-market strategies and growth plans
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2 years of experience in business development, capture management, or government contracting
- Familiarity with government procurement platforms (SAM.gov, eMMA, GSA eBuy, etc.)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting federal, state, or local government proposals
- Knowledge of NAICS codes, contract vehicles, and acquisition methods
- Experience working with small businesses, set-aside programs, or subcontracting
- CRM experience (Salesforce, HubSpot, GovWin, or similar)
- Understanding of compliance and proposal best practices
