Advanced Exhaust Solutions (AES) is seeking Certified Welding Inspectors (CWI) to support our expanding manufacturing operations in Northfield and Lakeville, MN. We have openings on both 1st and 2nd shifts—apply your inspection expertise where quality impacts performance.
Locations:
- Northfield, MN
- Lakeville, MN
Shifts:
- 1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday–Friday
- 2nd Shift: 2:15 PM – 12:45 AM, Monday–Thursday
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform welding inspections on metal components and assemblies per AWS and company specifications.
- Use fillet gauges, V-WAC gauges, weld measuring tools, and visual inspection methods to assess weld quality.
- Verify dimensional accuracy using calipers, micrometers, and measurement systems.
- Inspect paint and coating finishes for adherence to thickness and quality standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings to confirm tolerances.
- Accurately document inspection results and report non-conformances.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve welding and fabrication issues.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to welding quality and processes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Experience in welding inspection, dimensional inspection, or quality control in a fabrication environment
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret weld symbols
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams)
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in ISO 9001, AS9100, or ISO 13485 certified environments
- Previous participation in internal quality audits or advanced inspection techniques
- Experience with weld procedure and welder qualification verification
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Standing, walking, bending, and using hands for extended periods
- Ability to work in fabrication environments with standard noise, equipment, and temperature conditions
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing floor with active welding and fabrication operations
- Required use of PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection)
- Regular collaboration with quality, production, and engineering teams
