Job Title: Appointment Scheduler
Reports To: Manager of Patient Relations
Job Summary: Schedules patient office appointments in an efficient and timely manner. Along with transferring calls where needed.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Schedules, coordinates, confirms, and reschedules patient appointments. Screens patients per established protocols. Relays necessary messages to staff.
- Maintains and updates current information on physicians’ schedule and protocols.
- Oversees assigned doctors’ schedules.
- Answers questions regarding patient appointments.
- Participates in educational activities.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality.
- Performs other duties as required.
Education:
- High school Diploma or GED required.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of one year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
- Experience with computers, including Word.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of medical terminology a plus.
- Good grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a medical office setting.
- Involves frequent contact with staff and the public.
- Contact involves dealing with sick persons.
- Interaction with others may be constant and interruptive.
- Work may be stressful at times.
- May involve dealing with angry or upset individuals.
