SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Position requires operation of machine or blow torch to straighten warped or bent metal plate, bars, or sheets. Threads workpiece on machine with the use of overhead crane, forklift or other equipment

 

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING REQUIRED:
The position requires safety glasses, ear plugs, high impact gloves & steel toed shoes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate & maintain straightening (LEV) machine
• Translating the blueprints & dimensions on drawings to perform aligning, loading, operating, & other related tasks
• Adjust tension of machine to achieve appropriate level of straightening per specifications.
• Examine work for straightness
• If bulge present, use blowtorch to apply heat for straightening workpiece.
• Arranging & setting up of the material handling equipment & machinery
• Monitoring the machine operations to see that the finished products & components are aptly matching with the quality & quantity constraints of the company
• Cleaning the machines after completing production

Requirements

 QUALIFICATIONS:

• This position requires a passing score on math tests.
• 3-6 months of experience in a heavy production environment is desired.
• Effective oral & written communication skills are essential
• Incumbent must be able to read a tape measure & use a caliber to measure the thickness of materials
• Must be able to adhere to strict deadlines
• Mechanical aptitude is necessary
• Communication with other staff and flexibility is important

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear, and use one’s hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
