Advanced Systems Design is seeking a Project Manager for our client located in Montgomery, Alabama.
Job Description
- Serves as a Project Manager for ADECA's Information Technology Division initiating and managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Manages customer expectations for multiple functional program areas and ADECA Divisions
- Works directly with ADECA Division staff and solution providers, applying business analytical skills, to establish a justifiable business case and cost benefit analysis for proposed IT projects
- Defines and documents detailed business requirements, translates them into project requirements, and establishes project scope
- Negotiates project scope and customer expectations ensuring feasibility and alignment with available project resources
- Ensures that State and ADECA policies, standards, and guidelines for IT Project management and governance are applied and followed
- Establishes, maintains, and manages the ADECA IT project portfolio, prioritizing initiatives and activities based on agency strategic objectives and goals
- Oversees and facilitates vendor project management activity conducted by the vendor during solution implementation and service delivery, ensuring integration and deployment activities are effectively planned, communicated, coordinated, and executed
- Provides ongoing reporting of key project and portfolio performance metrics, to include milestone completion estimates, financial statistics, and resource demand and utilization
- Serves as the point of contact for new incoming project work to the IT division. Facilitates initial meetings with the ADECA Project owners and stakeholders, creates initial estimates, Statements of Work, and, upon approval, initiates the project
Defines requirements, establishes business case, develops high-level design of the functional solution and/or process, and works with stakeholders to establish a transparent definition/description of the business problem and the proposed solution - Establishes and manages Project Scope during the entire Project Life Cycle, ensures the business case for the project remains valid, and renegotiates Project Scope with stakeholders as necessary to ensure successful completion of the project
Develops and manages Project schedules, planning the number and length of applicable Project iterations and the type and number of resources required to meet the Product Owner’s expectation of delivery - Provides governance oversight to IT projects ensuring compliance with State and ADECA policies
- Communicates project schedule progress with customers ensuring that project delays or accelerations are known at the earliest point and stakeholders are sufficiently informed of the project’s status
- Creates and updates IT Projects into the Service-Desk Application such as project requests, approved projects, phases, and status updates in a timely and accurate manner to ensure that Service-Desk serves as the system of record, information is readily available, and ADECA's IT division services are properly reflected
- Will serve as the lead facilitator for IT's All Hands meeting held on a weekly basis
- Will ensure IT employees follow best practices for sharing their weekly accomplishments, on-going tasks, and roadblocks along with keeping the meeting on task and on time
- Will participate in daily stand-up meetings to discuss ongoing tasks and project updates

Experience Required
•Three years of project management experience to include managing projects with extended duration, budget responsibilities, and supervision of multiple persons in different skill areas
•Two years of experience performing computer systems analysis or programmer analyst type work
- Does not require PMP, but needs to have at least a few years of relevant experience
Education Required
•Bachelor’s degree from an accredited* four-year college or university with a degree in any major
