• The community you’ll be caring for:
• Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,368-bed AdventHealth Orlando
• serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America
• AdventHealth Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country
• We are already one of the busiest hospitals in the nation, providing service excellence to more than 32,000 inpatients and 125,000 outpatients each year
• Your role
• May assemble and deliver trays per therapeutic diet guidelines, and the established presentation standards. Maintains tray line in a clean, neat and organized manner
• Delivers food carts to patient care units. Returns carts to kitchen as designated times
• Operates dishwashing machine. Washes specified items by hand, i.e., pots, pans, knives. Puts clean dishes and utensils away
• Disposes of trash and garbage in appropriate manner and as needed
• Mops floors as scheduled and as necessary
• Performs cleaning duties as assigned such as walk-in refrigerators, walk-in freezers and storage areas
• Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments as well as treat patients and families with respect and dignity
• May work all positions on the tray line or retail areas. May prepare/assemble hot/cold food (salads, sandwiches, desserts) and nourishments for tray line, patients and retail areas of responsibility
• May monitor and record assigned refrigerator, freezer, and food temps daily
• Observes infection control practices at all times
• May participate in departmental performance improvement activities
• May assist in orienting new employees to department
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Ability to communicate with others in an effective manner that facilitates problem solving, interacts in a courteous, respectful and helpful manner
• Ability to explain nutrition related queries and have sound understanding of all the related terms
• May coordinate with the dietician on the diet needs
• Good listening skills and communication skills
• Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English and understand food service terms
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

• Have the ability to utilize FIFO method and label and date food correctly

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

• High School Education or equivalent
• One year of technical experience
