Advocates is seeking a Direct Support Professional (Mentor/1:1 support staff) to support a bright and active young man with a developmental disability. He and his family are looking for a Mentor to assist him with working on his goals in the community. In this critical role, you will help him in learning key independent living skills, assist him with improving his two-way communication skills, and assist him in improving his safety awareness skills. You will also support him to participate in community/recreational activities. Seeking someone who is reliable, enthusiastic, creative, and active. Related experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred but not required. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator and possess leadership skills and patience. Candidate must possess a keen sense of attention to detail, especially when electronically logging each day's time, mileage, and service documentation. Internet access and a valid email address are required.
Hours and days of work
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (9/10 AM - 3/4 PM)
Pay rate: $17.50 per hour
Location: Chittenango, NY
