Job description
The CNC laser operator will utilize the fabrication equipment available to achieve set production goals while upholding company safety and quality standards. This position will operate a variety of different machines including and not limited to; Mazak Co2 laser, Mazak fiber laser, press brake, bar folder, shear and other equipment necessary to complete the production process. A strong work ethic, positive attitude and attention to detail are essential to the growth of this position.
It is important to note that this positions primary duty is laser operator, but will be required to supplement laser operation with other shop duties when necessary.
Primary Job duties:
· Operate equipment in a safe and productive manner.
· Set-up and operate laser cutting machines to produce products according to print while monitoring machine cutting performance.
· Safely load correct materials onto loader for processing.
· Effectively remove parts from sheet “skeleton”, deburr, de-tab, package and or stock completed parts as required per job.
· Operate overhead cranes, tape measures, calipers, and hand tools.
· Ability to clean optics and perform standard machine maintenance.
· Ability to work independently, quickly and accurately in an environment with fluctuating priorities
· The operator must have complete knowledge of the laser and be able to perform routine cutting and troubleshooting.
· Communicate timely and effectively to supervisor when consumables and materials are running low.
· Track job times and material utilization using the company’s production software.
· Follow all company rules and policies.
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. consistently.
· Keep work area clean and organized.
· Weekly machine maintenance to keep the laser operating at optimal efficiency.
· Other duties as assigned.
Required skills:
· High school diploma or GED
· 2 years in a manufacturing setting
· 1 years of experience operating a CNC laser
· Ability to read a tape measure down to 1/32” and interpret measurements in decimal form.
· Ability to read and understand prints
· Ability to distinguish material types and thicknesses. Ex. Aluminum, stainless steel, carbon steel.
· Must be reliable and willing to work outside of assigned department as needed
· Must be able to safely operate a forklift
· Basic math skills
· Ability to stand 8 hours a day
