Affordable Animal Hospital Noho and Glendale is hiring full-time/part-time experienced Veterinary Technicians/Assistants with minimum 2 years experience. The primary responsibility of a Veterinary Technician/Assistant is providing basic care to animals that come to Affordable Animal Hospital. To provide adequate care, a Veterinary Technician must perform a variety of duties.
We are looking for Veterinary Technicians/Assistants that have a blend of technical skills and interpersonal skills to succeed in our Hospitals. Communication skills are especially important, as Veterinary Technicians spend much of their time talking with veterinarians, fellow staff members and clients.
Veterinary Technician Job Duties:
- Obtain medical history from client
- Administering medications to animals in a safe manner
- Vaccine schedules
- Proper restraining of animals during exams and procedures
- Taking vital signs accurately and collecting lab samples
- Performing dental cleanings
- Radiology set up and positioning
- Filling of prescriptions
- Collect laboratory specimens
- Maintaining laboratory equipment
- Providing pre & post-operative care to our patients
- Ensure all surgical instruments are properly wrapped and sterilized
- General housekeeping duties
- Educate Pet Parents
- Ability to communicate effectively to Veterinarians and Hospital staff
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of animal behavior and health care
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
- Passion for working with animals and their owners
- Two (2) year previous experience in animal care or in a clinic preferred
- Ability to prioritize and manage numerous different patient needs at one time
- Knowledge of Avimark practice-management software a plus
- Knowledge of Zoetis in-house equipment and IDEXX reference laboratory a plus
- Familiarity of appointment based and walk-in friendly clinics
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
