Job Summary
We are looking for a Process Development Associate II to join our Upstream Process Development team. In this role, you’ll play an important part in supporting mammalian cell culture processes that help us manufacture life-changing therapeutic proteins. You’ll work hands-on in the lab, running shake flask and bioreactor experiments and performing tasks like sampling, inoculation, feeding, and harvesting.

Schedule: Wednesday-Saturday, 10-hour shift

Responsibilities
You’ll work closely with the lab supervisor and project leads to support a variety of upstream process development activities, including:
- Running bench-scale bioreactor and shake flask experiments using aseptic techniques
- Sampling shake flasks and bioreactors
- Using cell counting and chemical analytical equipment
- Accurately recording data in batch records and lab notebooks
- Developing skills in cell culture operations like cell passaging, bioreactor inoculation, transfection, cloning, cell imaging, and cryopreservation
- Preparing media and buffers for experiments
- Coordinating with project leads on operations and schedules
- Working with MSAT teams on transfer dates and times
- Helping transfer materials and inoculate satellite bioreactors
- Monitoring satellite bioreactors daily
- Supporting additional experiments as needed, such as harvest characterization
- Checking data integrity
- Assisting with validation projects and onboarding new lab equipment
- Supporting both Microbial and Mammalian labs when needed
- Managing equipment through BMRAM, including requesting asset IDs, monitoring calibration schedules, and removing items from calibration
- Troubleshooting and solving basic technical issues with guidance
- Contributing ideas for process and workflow improvements
- Previous lab experience, either academic or industrial
- Comfortable working with computers and analytical equipment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
- Can work both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to occasionally work evenings or weekends when experiments require
- Able to lift up to 40 pounds and perform lab tasks that require manual dexterity
- Detail-oriented, dependable, organized, and ready to handle both routine tasks and learn new skills
- Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, media preparation, and aseptic technique preferred
- A.A. or B.S. in life sciences or engineering, plus 2–4 years of relevant experience.
