Accounting Specialist 1

This role contributes to the day-to-day accounting functions by providing data entry, account reconciliations and financial reporting support. Responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, preparing financial reports, and analyzing data to identify trends.

Processes functional transactions, ensures proper coding, compliance with internal controls and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Investigate discrepancies, researches data, and appropriately elevates issues for resolution.

Is responsible for the timely, accurate processing of accounts payable transactions. Interacts cross functionally with procurement teams to align invoicing with purchase orders.

Contributes to full cycle accounts receivable transactions. Interacts cross functionally with sales, shipping, and customer service to accurately generate customer invoices, as assigned.

The duties of this position extend to inventory and periodic audit projects.

• Process full-cycle accounts payable: coding, invoice entry, and monthly statement reconciliation.
• Investigates and resolves discrepancies associated with processing vendor invoices and purchase orders.
• Performs 1099 maintenance.
• Process and distribute customer invoices.
• Ensure timely compliance with monthly accounting calendar deadlines
• May assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, as needed
• Support departmental goals with additional projects or ad-hoc tasks, as assigned.
• May collaborate cross functionally to process accounts receivable payment application, and distribute customer AR statements as assigned
• Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant accounting regulations
• Collaborate with team members and management to improve processes and workflows

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Associates Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred.
• 1 years’ administrative and/or accounting experience.
• Working knowledge of general accounting principles, regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
• High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality.
• Effective verbal, listening and written communication skills.
• Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
