What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at AGRI-FAB INC?

Purpose:  Performs task to keep machines, mechanical equipment and the structure of the facility in repair.  Performs diagnostics, repairs and lubricates machinery, installs piping and conduit using tools and equipment common to the trades.

 

Position Requirements:

Must meet the following:

  1. Must have some form of mechanical ability in the Industrial Maintenance Field or Automotive, Military or Construction.
  2. Preferred electrical background to include 480 Volt/3-Phase
  3. Must be willing to perform all necessary proactive/preventative maintenance task and work overtime for a 90% CMMS closure rate.
  4. Employee must have flexible work hours to cover temporary second/split shift on a rotating basis.
  5. Complies with all rules and regulations of Agri-Fab, Inc. and actively contributes to workplace safety. Stays compliant with required annual safety training.
  6. Interacts in a positive and cooperative manner in all dealings with co-workers and management.
  7. Supports manufacturing improvement programs and initiatives. Offers and helps implement improvement suggestions.
  8. Maintains a clean, orderly and safe working environment; wears and utilizes all PPE required for each job.
  9. Follows standard work and work instructions.
  10. Displays a high degree of attention to detail.
  11. Displays appropriate sense of urgency in communicating concerns (safety, quality, etc.).
  12. Works overtime, including weekends and holidays, as required.

 

 

Essential Functions

Required but not limited to:

  1. Performs all assigned work safely using all required PPE’s.
  2. Uses common hand and power tools and wrenches, welding and cutting, as well as precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  3. Provides unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance during machine service.
  4. Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  5. Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and determines how to best correct the issue by checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
  6. Plans and lays out repair work, using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, or schematic diagrams.
  7. Ability to disassemble devices to access and remove defective parts.
  8. Repairs or replaces defective equipment parts, and reassembles equipment.
  9. Uses CMMS to record process and parts used for maintenance or repair work.
  10. Uses best practices and improves upon them to meet or exceed accepted task completion time and quality standards.
  11. Maintains work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
  12. Completes all other tasks as assigned by the Department Supervisor.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Measuring and Mathematical Skills
    1. Accurately adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides.
    2. Mechanical/electrical background is necessary to include 480 volt / 3 phase.
    3. Required to successfully complete Industrial Power Vehicle training and certification, including hearing and/or vision testing, and possess valid driver’s license.
    4. Certification in fork truck and aerial platform operation.
    5. Successfully completes training or demonstrates proficiency in blueprint reading.
    6. Produces accurate results when using precision measuring instruments.
  2. Language Skills (Speaking and Writing)
    1. Communicates effectively with coworkers, team leads and supervisors.
    2. Handwriting is clear and legible.
  3. Basic Reasoning Skills
    1. Applies common sense when following written and oral instructions.
    2. Reads, interprets, and takes action on written instruction.
    3. Reads and understands blue prints electrical schematics.
    4. Monitors processes, materials, events and environment to determine problems.
    5. Makes decisions and solve problems; analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solution.
  4. Physical Requirements and Manual Dexterity
    1. Requires considerable use of hands, arms and legs and whole body movements, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, handling, positioning, and manipulating of materials.
    2. Frequent bending, lifting, reaching required throughout shift.
    3. Frequent walking.
    4. Ability to step up and down to get in and out of lift truck throughout shift.
    5. May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. on an intermittent basis.
    6. Effectively uses appropriate basic hand tools.
    7. Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, aerial platforms, utility carts and tricycles.
  5. Computer skills
    1. Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
    2. Uses Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and business operations software.
    3. CMMS

Work Environment

  1. Subject to hot and cold temperatures.
  2. Will be subject to loud working environment that requires proper PPE.
  3. Skin exposure to oils, coolants and chemicals.
  4. Climbs ladders and work at heights in elevated platforms.
