Communications Operator

Operates a switchboard or telephone console to route incoming calls and place outgoing calls in a fast paced environment. Department also handles the Physician answering service calls. Responsible for updating the Physician's on call schedule and office information. Record and deliver messages, cancel appointments, and page physicians.

Responsibilities:

• Answer and route switchboard and answering service calls.
• Monitor and respond to all alarms and emergencies.
• Receive phone messages and enter them into computer.
• Use paging system and operate security radio.
• Maintain and utilize on-call, patient and hospital personnel lists.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business or a medical field preferred.
• 1-2 years of experience with handling high volume, call center activity.
