What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at Air Quality Engineering?
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Operations Manager to join our team. As the Operations Manager, you will plan, direct and coordinate production, purchasing, logistics and Shipping/Receiving operations of the organization.
Essential Functions:
Waste Elimination-Provide strategic and concrete plans to eliminate waste and increase productivity and net/gross profit margins of plant and organizational operations.
Financial- Prepare and control operational budgets, review financial data. Utilize financial data to improve profitability.
Safety- Responsible for and lead safety initiatives, safety committee and achievement of measurable safety metrics.
Production Operations-Lead production department: Monitor schedule, production performance, develop and ensure quality outcomes, Supervise and back-up the Production Manager.
Production Leadership- Manage and serve as back-up to Production Manager. Ensure adequate production staffing levels and quality team members, providing production team technical support. Identify, and develop ROI of capital equipment needs.
Purchasing- Manage purchasing function and serve as back-up to purchasing agent. Maintain and update automated purchasing system. Establish and maintain vendors and manage blanket orders.
Shipping/Receiving- Directly and indirectly through the Production Manager, oversee shipping and receiving team.
ERP Administration / Technology- Perform as in-house Global Shop Solutions ERP software administrator and expert in relation to purchasing, manufacturing planning, automated work orders, automated purchasing, and scheduling modules. Lead best practices of integration of technology throughout company operations: administration/engineering/production.
Continuous Improvement / Lean Practices- Utilize continuous improvement and/or Lean tools to champion organizational efficiencies, and continuous improvement initiatives such as solidifying standard work and related Kaizen events.
Best Practices- Improve processes and policies in support of organizational goals. Formulate policies to maximize output and limit costs. Monitor adherence to rules, regulations, and procedures.
Team Management- Plan human resource departmental need. Lead and organize staff recruitment. Delegate tasks and accountabilities as appropriate. Supervise team members, monitor, and evaluate performance of direct reports. Participate in evaluation of indirect reports.
Facility Management- Oversee facility improvements and repairs. Gather bids, select, and manage facility vendors.
Addintional- Manage and improve interdepartmental communications, participate as a member of the management team, participate in strategy development, strategic plans, and operational planning. Spearhead quarterly and annual planning, setting measurements and metrics related to strategic goals. Other duties as required.
