Status: Non-Exempt; Part Time

Measurables: Ensure that all areas and equipment of the Air Zoo facilities are clean, safe, and maintained to an excellent standard.

Cleaning Responsibilities

• Provide service during museum operating hours, conducting bathroom refreshes, cleaning

Kitty-Hawk café mezzanine, and ensuring cleaning support during special events in all areas of the museum.

• Clean the interior of buildings including floors, carpet, rugs, windows, walls, and periodic dusting.
• Disinfect commonly used items like desks, door handles, office tools and phones.
• Empty trash and recycling bins.
• Clean exhibit cases, glass surfaces, Plexiglass, and interactives.
• Monitor supply inventory.
• Special projects, as assigned.

Safety and Training

• Complete equipment training and stay current on safety training for equipment.
• Understand and follow SDS for all supplies.
• Understand and follow MIOSHA approved safety processes and Air Zoo procedures for safety.

Team Support

• Promptly report to work and follow instructions.
• Help others on the crew to complete daily, weekly and periodic cleaning.
• Attend all appropriate trainings and internal staff meetings.
• Provides a remarkable experience for every guest of the Air Zoo with every action and every interaction.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent years with 2 years of related experience.

• Experience in working independently and within a team.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• Must be flexible with the ability to work independently and as a team member.
• Excellent communications skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Well-groomed appearance and compliance with the dress and personal appearance policies.
• Professional work and punctuality habits.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and the ability to meet minimum driving requirements.
• Physical abilities include prolonged periods of standing and walking and frequently pulling, pushing, and bending. Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds at a time.

SCHEDULE: Part time approximately 16-25 hours per week. The schedule will include days, evening and weekend hours. The worked performed is in-person at the Air Zoo in Portage, Michigan.

HEALTH REQUIREMENT & Pre-Employment SCREENINGS: Because the Air Zoo is a public-facing organization, we encourage employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as defined by the
CDC, but it is not a requirement for employment. The Air Zoo follows CDC and Kalamazoo Health
Department’s guidelines for COVID testing, isolation, mask wearing, and may require masks to be worn by employees in certain settings to improve safety. Pre-employment drug screening and state/federal background checks are required for all Air Zoo employees.

COMPENSATION: $13.00 - $15.00 commensurate with education and experience.
