Quality Engineer
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible to provide engineering support necessary to ensure the quality of products shipped meets customer requirements. Continuously improve manufacturing, development, customer satisfaction, quality control and processes.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
Analyze, test, and validate data to determine whether systems or processes have met validation criteria or to identify rood causes of production problems
Know product characteristics and/or customer requirements
Implement Customer APQP launches and PPAP packages.
Performs testing and implementation with affected departments and personnel
Investigate and address customer quality issues
Work with manufacturing areas and engineering to address improvements
Communicate with suppliers to reach a workable solution to the issue
Respond to customer requests
Coordinate with functional area managers to gain closure on audit findings using Corrective Action System
Perform supplier quality audits at major suppliers
Identify and contain quality spills, defects, and sorts so that defective or suspect material is prevented from reaching the customer
Observe, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources to analyze quality issues
Take proactive approach in preventing quality issues; work collaboratively with other departments to take preventive actions to avoid quality issues
Responsible to support in creating and maintain on the floor production books with latest versions of work instructions, quality alerts, and other documents of the plant in support to the Manufacturing Team.
Respond immediately to customer concerns and take all appropriate action to resolve issues
Create, populate, or maintain databases for tracking metrics, validation activities, test results, or validated systems
Prepare validation or performance qualification protocols for new or modified manufacturing processes and systems
Manage the Quality alert process, ensuring information is disseminated to all areas of the organization needing to be informed, and following up to make sure issues are fully resolved
Responsible for audit preparation activities and attending audits as required
Lead and facilitate meetings as required
Comply with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Degree in related field and/or equivalent work experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience working in quality and manufacturing
Experience with rubber or plastic injection molding (rubber preferred)
Six Sigma certification (a plus)
Knowledge of quality systems and customer requirements
Able to read and interpret blueprints
Experience with SPC methods, APQP, GD&T, PPAP, FMEA, process controls, control charts and other processes
TRAINING/SKILLS
CMM equipment, pin gauges, calipers, test equipment and micrometers
