Position Responsibilities
The incumbent is expected to perform the following functions that the company has determined are essential to this position:
- Lead and manage body evaluation projects for assigned product classes. This position will be in charge of evaluations of various products, such as sunroofs, exterior products, door products, and related body mechanisms.
- Approve, negotiate & manage customer DVP&Rs and internal test plans. Manage Aisin database system for testing.
- Lead weekly meetings with requestors and provide timely updates.
- Attend and support internal design review meetings and follow product delivery process.
- Follow Evaluation Activity Process and update data base, issue test requests, open and close jobs.
- Analyze results, write reports and keep projects on time.
- Manage problem follow-up sheets & problem lists.
- Write test procedures and standardized test methods.
- Lead fixture design and testing methodology.
- Research and create technical documentation.
- Conduct product benchmarking and analysis.
- Support equipment and instrumentation purchase and installation.
- Manage outsource testing as applicable.
- Support product evaluation scope management.
- Follow ISO/IATF certification processes.
- Practice continuous improvement, propose and implement ideas to improve safety, efficiency, and/or productivity.
- Support Business Plan & Budgets when applicable.
- Other tasks and duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Knowledge of data acquisition and instrumentation principles. Understanding use of sensors such as accelerometers, strain gages, load cells, LVDTs, speed gauges, thermal couples, etc...
- Knowledge of signal processing and data analysis (sampling, filtering, transforms, etc.)
- Be able to interpret data, identify issues and make recommendations based on data.
- Good report writing and presentation skills.
- Excellent independent working capability and problem-solving skills.
- Constantly motivated to learn new knowledge and skills for self-improvement and development.
- Ability to apply engineering principles to test methods and analysis.
- The candidate shall be very organized, detail oriented, be able to work with limited supervision, meet deadlines, and have good communication skills.
Beneficial Skills and Experience:
- NVH knowledge or skills. Understanding the basics and principles of NVH issues and analysis.
- Knowledge and experience with OEM test methods such as GM, Toyota, Daimler, Subaru, etc.
- Knowledge of basic equipment used in electronics testing, such as oscilloscopes, sequencers, data loggers, multimeters, programmable power supplies, etc.
- Fixture design and fabrication; machine shop experience.
- Experience with ED shaker.
- PLC (Omron) programming skill and automation.
- LabView programming skill.
- VBA programming skill and/or other programming skill.
Education/Training/Certifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical or automotive related) or equivalent experience.
Work Environment Requirements
- Must be able to operate a personal computer, telephone and other office equipment.
- Must perform job duties onsite, except those duties that are customarily or by their nature performed offsite (for example, offsite customer visits).
- Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where constructive criticism is encouraged.
- Must be able to work on multiple assignments at once, and complete assignments within deadline and budget (if applicable) with satisfactory quality.
- Must be able to operate as an effective team member.
