Position Summary
The Creative Center Technician (Grade Level 6) is responsible for fabricating items including but not limited to jigs, racks, conveyors, platforms, material handling, and storage items. This position is accountable for the verification and installation processes of different Creative Center work orders.
Position Responsibilities
The incumbent is expected to perform the following functions that the company has determined are essential to this position:
- Fabricate all required parts to engineering drawings provided or using rough sketch provided on the work request.
- Create sketches from measurements when no information is available.
- Work with requestor lineside if needed to help determine the best course of action for completing their request.
- Perform modifications or repairs to equipment in-line when needed.
- Assess jobs and calculate materials needed.
- Paint completed jobs requiring a paint finish.
- Perform machine checks on creative center equipment.
- Perform minor maintenance on all machines in the shop.
- Maintain accurate time records for jobs.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by complying with safety and 5s requirements.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with all personnel in the company.
- Maintain a less than 5% defect ratio.
Required Skills and Abilities
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year service as Associate Creative Center Technician.
- Ability to convert metric and imperial units.
- Ability to identify different sheet steel gages, types, and processes best suited to each material type.
- Ability to setup and run all machines located in the creative center, including but not limited to shear, press brake, iron worker and vertical saw.
- Proficient in MIG welding with the ability to select proper current and wire speed-based material.
- Proficient in TIG welding with the ability to weld carbon steels, stainless steels, and aluminum to meet weld design specifications.
- Ability to select proper current and filler-based material.
- Demonstrates commitment to “Safety First.”
Education/Training/Certifications
- Diploma or certificate in Welding Technology or similar discipline.
