The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily quality control activities within the manufacturing environment to ensure compliance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, and internal standards. This role involves hands-on inspection, CMM programming/operation, and leading a team of inspectors and technicians. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise in GD&T, metrology, and blueprint interpretation along with strong leadership skills, particularly in a unionized environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of quality inspectors across all shifts.
- Facilitate and ensure effective execution of daily inspections.
- Ensure proper containment, identification, and segregation of non-conforming product.
- Ensure 5S of all Quality Control Areas
- Maintain organization and flow in the MRB (Material Review Board) area to ensure rejected products are clearly identified and dispositioned in a timely manner.
- Drive the minimization of unplanned downtime related to quality inspections; ensuring quality control processes support—rather than disrupt—production flow must be treated as a top priority.
- Interpret and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to assess conformance of products to engineering drawings.
- Program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to perform precise dimensional inspections.
- Use standard measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, height gages, and indicators.
- Train and mentor quality staff in inspection techniques, proper documentation, and problem-solving methods.
- Maintain strict adherence to company policies, safety rules, and procedures, and enforce them consistently.
- Interface with production, engineering, and management teams to drive continuous improvement.
- Document and escalate non-conformances and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Participate in audits (internal, customer, and third-party) as required.

Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred.
- Additional training or coursework in industrial quality, SPC, CMM programming, or blueprint reading highly desired.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial technology, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 4–5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing quality environment.
- Proven ability to lead in a unionized workforce setting.
- Hands-on experience with CMM programming and operation.
- Strong working knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, and dimensional inspection.
- Proficient in the use of standard inspection tools.
- Familiar with SPC, control plans, and quality documentation.
- Competence in Microsoft Office Suite and quality software systems.
