What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Specialist position at Alakaina Family of Companies?
The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a need for a Payroll Specialist to support our Corporate Headquarters in Orlando, Florida.
Under supervision of the Payroll Manager, the payroll specialist will ensure accurate processing and recording of the company's payroll, provide timely and accurate financial information, daily data entry, and perform related work as required.
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understand all aspects of payroll, payroll laws, and regulations
- Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed timely and accurately
- Provide excellent customer service to employees in the areas of timesheet entries, compensation, taxes, and how to request time off
- Coordinate with Human Resources and Finance to ensure accuracy of data in Costpoint
- Perform daily payroll operations for multiple companies
- Process employee data (new hires, changes, terminations)
- Check timesheets for accuracy on project coding
- Execute time and attendance processing and interface with payroll
- Review timesheets and payroll registers to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
- Familiarity with many different leave types (FMLA, Military etc.) as well as SCA Contracts - Service Contract Act.
- Process 401K, HSA, FSA and garnishment payments
- Process quarterly 940/941 tax reconciliations
- Process accurate and timely year end reporting (W-2s and W-2cs)
- Process manual check calculations
- Other assigned duties
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
1-3 years’ experience in payroll processing
0-2 Years’ experience in the Deltek Accounting System (Costpoint) is preferred but not required
0-2 Years’ experience in ADP Payroll (Workforce) is preferred but not required
Detail-oriented
Able to deal with difficult, sensitive, and confidential information
Excellent customer service skills
Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills
Strong organizational, time management and prioritization abilities
The ability to handle multiple projects or tasks, while effectively prioritizing to meet deadlines in an ever changing fast paced environment.
Working knowledge of payroll best practices
Working knowledge of federal and state regulations
Strong PC knowledge including proficiency in Excel
Must possess a strong work ethic and be a team player
Schedule: Monday to Friday; 8:30am to 5:00pm
