Job Summary
The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for assisting in the administration of the company
Safety Management System (SMS) program. The Safety Coordinator will be hands-on and
interact with all departments to implement and manage a proactive, behavior-based approach
to safety and health. The Safety Coordinator will be also be responsible for managing and
implementing company safety and health programs and trainings that comply with local, state
and federal standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assist employees in effectively utilizing the company Safety Management System (SMS)
to achieve compliance with all regulatory and company safety policies.
2. Assist in the development and presentation of relevant safety and health training.
3. Update company programs and training material/content as required.
4. Manage company records, to include OSHA 300 forms, inspections, training records, etc.
5. Conduct safety and health audits and inspections of all work areas bi-weekly, monthly,
quarterly and/or on an annual basis.
6. Collaborate with management to monitor compliance and identify safety issues.
7. Attend and participate in bi-weekly safety meetings.
8. Conduct and/or participate in incident investigations as requested.
9. Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and standards (including OSHA, ADEC,
etc.)
10. Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Associates Degree or higher in Occupational Safety and Health is highly preferred or a
closely related field or 2 years of experience in safety and health.
3. Strong working knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations.
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
5. Excellent communication and advisory skills.
6. Willing to travel to remote locations within Alaska occasionally (day trips).
7. Must be able to interface with employees at all levels of the organization
Salary : $46,200 - $58,500
