Job Summary and Qualifications

The Coord Stroke Program is responsible for managing, developing and implementing Alaska Regional’s Stroke Program. The Coord Stroke Program is a highly qualified, expert clinician who possesses advanced stroke knowledge and has demonstrated strong critical thinking skills. The Coord Stroke Program collaborates with nursing leadership and the Education Department to develop and implement staff education and makes regular rounds on stroke patients to evaluate the treatment plan and nursing interventions.

The Coord Stroke Program supports the mission, vision statements and goals of Alaska Regional Hospital (ARH). The Coord Stroke Program facilitates interventions to meet patients’ physical, psychological, spiritual, social, cultural and educational needs; coordinates functions with physicians and other departments of the hospital in a spirit that fosters positive working relationships. The Coord Stroke Program must possess excellent interpersonal, time management and communication skills. Serving as role model, mentor, educator, and evaluator regarding stroke patient care for the staff is essential.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or enrolled in a program within 12 months
  • Current Alaska Registered Nurse License
  • A minimum of two years of direct acute care nursing experience in a hospital
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification
