What You Will Be Doing
- Conduct criminal investigations, gather evidence, interview witnesses, and prepare detailed reports.
- Enforce traffic laws and ensure highway safety.
- Respond to emergencies, manage conflicts, and de-escalate dangerous situations.
- Collaborate with local, state, and federal law enforcement partners.
- Assist with incidents involving wildlife or domestic animals.
- Serve as rural and near-urban law enforcement, providing full police services to communities without local departments.
- Build trust through community engagement and proactive policing.
Who We Are Looking For
- 21 years of age or older at the start of the academy.
- U.S. citizen with a high school diploma or GED.
- Proficient in written and spoken English.
- Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean record.
- Strong decision-making and leadership skills.
- Commitment to integrity and community service.
- Willingness to relocate to an assigned training post (Fairbanks, Palmer/Wasilla, Soldotna)
- No felony convictions.
- No domestic violence convictions.
- No marijuana use within the past year.
